Four veteran musicians who share a passion for writing and playing punk rock music with similar influences keeping the 90s type punk rock they grew up on alive and well.

Carry the 9 started in late 2018 as Sean and Kevin reconnected when they found out they lived close to each other again after 20 plus years. What started as jamming turned into something more serious. Having played in different bands through out the years since the mid 90’s, they knew they had something and decided to write more music and become a band with the addition of a bassist. Responding to a Craigslist ad that they posted, Jose Wright showed up and filled the bassist role while bringing in his east coast punk experience and the occasional “Let’s Go!”
After writing a few songs, there was something still missing. Sean had a friend who played guitar that he’d known since grade school and played with back in the day. It was suggested Jeremy be given a shot to fill the role of Lead Guitarist even though he lived an hour and a half away in Santa Maria. The rest of the band was in Ventura and LA area. Jeremy showed up and was quickly added to the lineup bringing a new dynamic to the band with his leads and vocals.
Grand plans for shows and lots of practice were unfortunately derailed in early 2020 due to a little thing called COVID. However, the band did record 3 songs, came up with a band name and played their first show in summer of 2021. Since that time, they have consistently played shows in and around the Central Coast of California, going so far as Berkeley to play 924 Gilman Street and as far South as Anaheim. The band has played in Lompoc, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, Paso Robles, Morro Bay and others.
In 2025, the band plans to record 4 new songs in January and then play as many shows as possible throughout the year.
Staying true to the 90’s punk rock, Carry the 9‘s influences include bands such as Rise Against, Face to Face, Lagwagon, No Use For A Name, NOFX, Bad Religion, Good Riddance. etc.,
